• Look out for news on the show knitting front in the coming weeks as we both prepare entries for the local Agricultural Shows (Rylstone/Kandos, Sofala, Mudgee). There are reputations to be upheld and lots of exciting products in the store to use for those beautiful shawls we are hoping to present for judging. I'm doing mine in the Jamieson and Smith 1ply (cobweb) in natural and Margot's is a secret for now, but I'm sure all will be revealed soon.

  • Now we're set up, we're a bit more confident about promoting the shop - we know we have lots of stock and the shop looks established. Our main strategies are aimed at knitters through Ravelry, the online knitting site, and also tourists via some of the key tourist publications and local tourist organisations, as well as brochures placed in many of the places visitors are likely to see them. However, one of the best approaches is to be highly visible - we are in a lovely old building and whilst...

  • We continue to add stock to the shop, particularly as we get feedback and see what people like. Ordered and coming soon, includes: Hedgehog Fibres - a generous order of Kidsilk Lace and Sock Yarn - given how fast it has left us so far. This will be available online for anyone who can't get to the shop. I'd advise to get in quickly to avoid disappointment. Hoping these will arrive prior to Christmas. Mudgee Superfine Wool - mainly 8ply and great value for those who are after a reliable...

The train only comes through once a year from Sydney bringing tourist travellers to the town and back. We will be manning our stall at the markets, selling our hand knits and welcoming visitors. If you're around, please pop by and say "Hi" to Gemma and me.

  • So we've just had our first week of being open (we open Friday to Monday) and it was a great start! Locals seem to love having a yarn shop. We've had great feedback from tourists as well. We haven't started advertising yet, so that will be our next step as well as continuing to add items¬†and keeping the shop well stocked with hand knits which will now reflect our yarn. We've been inundated with requests for classes so that will also be high on the To Do list, but for...

  • Tired and happy. A great day with locals popping in as well as visitors to the area. Made some sales. Did my first ever EFTPOS transaction (at least from the vendor's side!) and had Opening Night Drinks. Online shop is progressing much faster than hoped for. Looks like a promising future.

  • Just opened two hours ago and already had a few people through and made our first sale. Things are looking good. Not sure how many people would open a yarn store in over 40 degree weather.
