We love the opportunity to showcase our local artisans. Fleur and the Penguin offer a unique and delightful range of handmade project and tote bags to help keep your WIPs in order. Using lino block images, these bags are designed, printed and sewn here in Kandos by Fleur and the Penguin (although we suspect the Penguin mainly only oversees). Available in three sizes.
In our constant quest to find authentic and beautiful products for our crafters, we are pleased to offer Convent Irish Tweed. This beautiful rustic yarn is sourced direct from an Irish mill. We wind it into 100g balls for ease of use and so you can cast on the minute you walk out of our shop. The yarn is a luxurious blend of 70% Merino Lambswool and 30% Mohair, creating a unique combination of colour, weightless volume and soft handle in a DK/8ply Donegal yarn. Great colour range with a true...
This must be one of the most beautiful yarns - butter soft to knit with. This little skein of luxury is perfect for a special project or gift for your most discerning knitting friend. Colours look beautiful and the kitten soft yarn provides a lovely soft halo. Hedgehog Fibres Cashmere Merino is in 50g skeins and is a 3ply lace equivalent. 300m per 50g skein, 50% Cashmere and 50% Merino.
One of our most popular lines is our Zauberballs. Customers love the playful changes of colour and that you can make a great interesting project from a single ball. We stock Starke 6 (6ply) as well as the original Zauberball Sock, 100% and Crazy Sock. A Zig Zag Scarf or a baby's jumper can be made from one ball. Never boring and always fun to knit with.
Actually not from Ireland but Wisconsin in the States. These indie dyers create unique, stunning colourways for any project or palette. Convent & Chapel Wool Shop proudly provide this yarn in Australasia. We carry 40 gorgeous colourways in the popular Adorn Luxe which is their fingering/sock/4ply most popular base. It has a beautiful twist and texture making it an allrounder for socks, shawls or any pattern requiring or deserving a great 4 ply. The colours are rich and varied - deep semi solids, variegated and speckles - something to suit any...
We love Kate Davies designs and now stock a range of her books in the shop. Choose patterns and match them with our wonderful yarns including a great range of Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight (which is actually 4 ply/fingering weight yarn). Perfect for fair isle.
We are excited to now stock Qing Fibres. Layla Qing, originally hailing from Beijing and now living in London, is a talented artisan dyer with unique and stunning colour combinations from deep and mysterious to bold and bright. We stock a wide range of colours in fingering weight/4 ply Yak Singles, Super Soft Sock (with Cashmere) and Silky Merino Singles.
Over the Summer, our days of opening are Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm. We open again on Mondays when the warmer is a little more conducive to some knitters. Current hours are updated on our Facebook page.
In preparation for Winter, we are busy adding to our hand knits. Our latest beanie is the Twisted Beanie using the Able Cable Beanie pattern on Ravelry. The beanies are knitted in various wonderful yarn blends like cashmere and wool or alpaca and silk. We don't think they'll last long.
Our popular antique and collectibles cabinets have been restocked, including vintage crystal necklaces and beautiful antique brooches.
Our first shipment of Jagger Spun has arrived and we are loving it. We are stocking Heather and the Maine Line - both pure wool Sport Weight - as well as Super Lamb and Zephyr Silk Wool, which are both lace weight. A range of colours is available in each yarn type and the quality is superb. We can't wait to start projects with them - just need to choose the project and which yarn. It's a tough life!
Yesterday the shop was jam-packed with enthusiastic knitters. The Mudgee Knitters' Guild made a trip to Rylstone to visit us and have their Christmas lunch. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and we certainly benefitted from their trip - I think a few more orders will now need to be placed to restock. Thank you for your good wishes and hope you have a good Christmas. Gemma and I aim to get to Guild meetings as often as the shop permits.
